The New York Giants made a pair of roster moves on Friday, signing a veteran center and waiving an injured cornerback.
The Athletic’s Dan Duggan reported that the Giants agreed to terms with center Brenden Jaimes following the team’s training camp practice.
The Los Angeles Chargers selected Jaimes with the 159th overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft out of Nebraska. He spent his first four seasons with the Chargers before playing for the New England Patriots in 2025. The 27-year-old is entering his sixth NFL season and adds depth at center amid a wave of injuries.
Starting center John Michael Schmitz left practice early after taking a hard hit and is expected to enter the concussion protocol. Backup Lucas Patrick is dealing with a knee injury.
In a separate move, the Giants waived cornerback Jarrick Bernard-Converse with an injury designation. The 26-year-old has been dealing with a knee injury in recent days and did not practice.
Bernard-Converse was selected by the New York Jets with the 204th overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft. He played for the Jets in 2023 and 2024 before splitting time between the Cleveland Browns and Giants last season, when he recorded four tackles.
He now hits the waiver wire as New York moves forward with a cornerback group headlined by Paulson Adebo, Greg Newsome, Andru Phillips, Deonte Banks and Colton Hood.
