New York Giants claim DT Zacch Pickens off waivers from Chiefs

The New York Giants have claimed defensive tackle Zacch Pickens off waivers. Pickens was released by the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday and joined the Giants as their newest member just one day later.

Pickens recorded just five total tackles across three appearances with Kansas City last season. A former third-round pick, he could provide solid depth on the Giants’ defensive line in 2026, though he will likely struggle to see consistent playing time.

The former Chief is the fifth defensive tackle added to the Giants’ roster this offseason. New York drafted former Auburn star Bobby Jamison-Travis in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL draft and has since signed veteran defensive tackles Shelby Harris, Leki Fotu, and DJ Reader.

Pickens has recorded 44 total tackles, two tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks across his three-year NFL career.

Still just 26 years old, the former South Carolina standout could prove to be a serviceable option if he performs well throughout training camp.

Pickens will need to earn his spot on New York’s 53-man roster as the Giants continue adding depth at defensive tackle following the Dexter Lawrence trade in April.
