The New York Giants are often said to be one of the worst-run franchises in all of team sports by experts. That hasn’t precluded them from prospering financially, though.
In Forbes’ recent list of the World’s Most Profitable Sports Teams of 2026, the Giants, who have an estimated value of $10.1 billion, ranked 14th with an operating income of $181 million. They are wedged in between the New York Rangers ($182 million) and the New York Jets ($180 million).
The Dallas Cowboys lapped the field with an astonishing $629 million in operating income, over $200 million more than the second-ranked Golden State Warriors ($409 million).
Other NFL teams making the list: The Los Angeles Rams at No. 3 ($244 million), the New England Patriots (No. 6, $222 million), the Las Vegas Raiders (No. 16, $179 million), and the Houston Texans (No. 20, $156 million).
The NFL led the way among all major sports leagues with an average of $127 million in operating income. The NBA was second ($113 million), the NHL ($74 million), and Soccer ($41 million).
MLB brought up the rear with an average operating income of just $2 million per team. The average has been brought down by the eleven teams that lost money last season, namely the New York Mets, who reported losses of over $268 million in 2024.
