New York Giants' Abdul Carter led NFL in quick pressures in 2025

What’s the one word that best describes New York Giants outside linebacker Abdul Carter?

Quick? Violent? Fast? All three are fitting descriptions for the Penn State product. Carter emerged as one of the NFL’s top defensive rookies in 2025, and his relentless pressure on opposing quarterbacks significantly strengthened the Giants’ pass rush.

Based on data compiled by Next Gen Stats (via Tony Holzman-Escareno), Carter led the league in quick pressures—a pressure registered in under 2.5 seconds—with 48 last season.

Carter finished ahead of Nik Bonitto (44), first-team All-Pro defensive end Will Anderson Jr. (35), and first-team All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons (33).

The eye test confirmed what the numbers showed: Carter’s speed routinely overwhelmed opposing offensive linemen. That performance earned him fifth place in the Associated Press Defensive Rookie of the Year voting.
