A wrong-way crash on Rochester’s Inner Loop early Friday killed two people and critically injured a third, according to New York State Police.
The crash happened at about 1:26 a.m. on June 26 on the Inner Loop.
What happened?
A preliminary investigation found that a 2024 Honda CR-V, driven by a 39-year-old woman, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of the Inner Loop when it collided head-on with an eastbound 2012 Ford Fusion.
The Ford Fusion was driven by a 21-year-old man and had a 21-year-old male passenger.
After the head-on collision, the Ford Fusion entered the path of a 2012 Jeep Liberty driven by Marvin T. Harmon, 29, of Rochester, resulting in a second crash.
Two people killed, two others injured
The driver and front-seat passenger of the Ford Fusion were pronounced dead at the scene, state police said.
The 39-year-old woman driving the Honda became unresponsive at the scene and was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
Harmon was evaluated at the scene before being transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigation ongoing
The Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene and ordered autopsies for the two people who died.
The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit processed and reconstructed the crash scene.
The investigation remains ongoing.
