NEW YORK — Brooklyn Nets rookie guard Egor Demin has been sidelined for the rest of the 2025-26 NBA season due to increased plantar fasciitis in his left foot. Brooklyn decided to shut Demin down for the rest of the campaign so that he could recover and address the situation and he was able to speak on what the past couple of weeks have been like.
“After the many games I’ve done this season, it’s been pretty weird just to wake up and have my own kind of routine and a little bit of a deeper routine than normal,” Demin said prior to Wednesday’s matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Demin will not be seeing the floor for the Nets for the rest of the season, but he was able to provide more insight into the behind-the-scenes process of recovering from the plantar fasciitis.
“It’s been successful. Everything went well, and now it’s just the process of rehab and getting back on the court as soon as the season ends, as we planned,” Demin said when discussing the non-surgical procedure that he had to address his plantar fasciitis. “Hopefully, everything’s going to go in the right direction and I’ll be able to get back to work as soon as I can.”
Demin, 20, finishes his rookie campaign with averages of 10.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 39.9% from the field and 38.5% from three-point land. When the Nets announced that Demin would be shut down for the rest of this year, they noted that Demin “is expected to return to basketball activity early in the offseason and be a full participant in the summer development program.”
When Demin and Nets head coach Jordi Fernandez addressed the media on Wednesday, both seemed to leave Demin’s timeline more in the air than definitive while noting that the Las Vegas Summer League is still too far to gauge whether he’ll be able to participate in the event. Either way, Demin has had the prodecure to address his plantar fasciitis and now, he can move forward with getting ready to attack the offseason as best he can.
