Naples celebrates history with Watkinstown Day

Naples history buffs are getting ready to take a step back into time and celebrate Watkinstown Day, referring to the original historical name of the village.

The Naples NY Historical Society event starts at 11 a.m. June 6 with remarks by Naples Historian Kenton Poole followed by a blacksmithing demonstration at 11:30 a.m. Activities continue through 4 p.m. at the north end of Main Street, referred to as the Old Town Square.

Walking and Fairview Cemetery tours are planned at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.. Live music begins at 3 p.m. with Levi Gangi.

Representatives from local organizations will be available, and visitors will be able to enjoy restaurants, breweries, wineries and other local businesses.
