There are more state-ranked Section V football teams than last week after postseason tournaments began from the Buffalo region all the way to Long Island.
The number of Section V teams in the rankings put together by the New York State Sportswriters Association is up to 10.

Rush-Henrietta, idle last week with a bye during the first round of sectionals, re-entered the Class AA top 30. Irondequoit remains in the Class A state rankings, despite losing in a sectional semifinal round.
Monroe is the highest-ranked team in Section V, tied for No. 1 in Class B.
The New York State Sportswriters Association has put together the most referenced set of rankings since 1969.
The latest rankings, the season’s fifth set, were released Oct. 29.
