In celebration of Arbor Day, students in the Suffern School District planted donated trees with the help of staff and a local arborist on April 24, 2026.
Students in the district take part in the yearly tradition each Spring. Arborist John Wickes and his family have been donating trees and saplings to the schools for more than 60 years.
This Arbor Day, Wickes and fourth-grade students from Montebello Elementary School planted a lilac tree. Students get to take part in planting the trees on the holiday, and then watch the trees grow as they move up in grades.
