A fire that broke out at a Monsey apartment complex displaced six families Tuesday, July 22, due to smoke and water damage.
Spring Valley Police Det. Matthew Galli said the fire broke out at approximately 3:30 p.m. at the Kearsing Parkway apartments in Monsey.
Video of the fire circulated on social media showed smoke billowing from the roof of one of the buildings at around 4 p.m. Spring Valley Fire Department, Hillcrest Fire Department and Monsey Fire Department responded to the scene and successfully evacuated the building.
No residents were reported injured, according to Spring Valley Police. However, families in six units were left displaced due to smoke, fire and water damage.
Galli said a preliminary report showed the fire appeared to be electrical in nature, but an investigation into the cause remains ongoing.
