The Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association recently honored its top senior student-athletes for each high school. John S. Burke Catholic High School selected Isabella Filosa and Stephen Kelly.

Isabella Filosa
Varsity sports: cheerleading; indoor and outdoor track and field
Athletic honors: Track and field – team captain; holds 10 school records; state meet qualifier; national meet all-American in long jump; Section 9-C champ in long jump, triple jump, high jump, pentathlon, 1,600-meter relay
Academic honors, extracurricular activities: National Honor Society; tutor; Spanish club; student government
Community service: Volunteer for Rock Hill fire department, Sullivan County Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals; Saint Jude Children’s Hospital fundraiser
Future plans: SUNY Cortland, majoring in biomedical sciences; compete in indoor and outdoor track and field
Stephen Kelly
Varsity sports: Cross country; indoor and outdoor track and field
Athletic honors: Cross country – team captain; three-time state-meet athlete; track and field – team captain; indoor school records in mile, 1,600-meter relay, distance medley and sprint medley relays; competed at indoor nationals
Academic honors, extracurricular activities: Salutatorian; National Honor Society; national English honor society; Spanish club; student government; Chess club; yearbook club; principal’s list every marking period; most outstanding student in history
Community service: Bronx middle school volunteer; Burke Catholic Christmas boutique; alumni day and student orientation ambassador; school college fair.
Future plans: University of Scranton, majoring in biology; compete in cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field
