Alissa Brennan, senior deputy county attorney in Monroe County, released a statement recently announcing her campaign to run for the East District seat on Rochester City Council.
Brennan officially launched her campaign in May when she spoke to nearly 100 residents about the future of East District and her vision for the district’s leadership.
From her conversations with residents, business owners and stakeholders, Brennan says the common message is neighborhoods in the east district want a representative who is connected to the community.
“The East District deserves a councilmember who shows up consistently, who fights for the resources, services and the attention this community has too often gone without,” Brennan said in a statement. “They deserve a representative who is focused on the work of city council, not on politics.”
Legislator Rachel Barnhart also announced her campaign this week for the East District seat on Rochester’s City Council. The Democratic primary election will be taking place in June 2027.
Brennan has emphasized having experience in both private practice and local government and taking on leadership roles across local bar associations. She has also completed leadership programs through Monroe County and the Monroe County Bar Association.
“These experiences have prepared me to be an effective advocate for every neighborhood in the East District,” Brennan said in a statement. “The energy behind this campaign is real and it’s growing every day. I’m grateful for every resident, volunteer and supporter who has joined this movement.”
