Metro-North is adding trains to accommodate people headed to the Knicks’ championship ticker-tape parade in Manhattan Thursday, June 18, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority said.
The Knicks, who won the NBA championship for the first time since 1973, are scheduled to parade down the city’s canyon of heroes. The parade is slated to begin at 10 a.m. Thursday.
Which Metro-North lines are adding extra trains for Knicks parade?
On the Hudson Line, there will be an extra train leaving Greystone at 7:49 a.m., stopping at Glenwood, Yonkers, Ludlow, Riverdale, Spuyten Duyvil, and Marble Hill, and arriving in Grand Central Terminal at 8:29 a.m., an MTA news release said.
On the Harlem Line, Metro-North is adding an extra train departing North White Plains at 7:32 a.m., stopping at White Plains, Hartsdale, Scarsdale, Crestwood, and Bronxville, and arriving in Grand Central Terminal at 8:19 a.m.
On the New Haven Line, an extra train will depart Stamford at 6:52 a.m., stop at Greenwich, Port Chester, and Rye, and arrive in Grand Central Terminal at 7:53 a.m. Seven trains will also make extra stops at stations including New Rochelle, and Connecticut’s Stamford, Rowayton, Darien, and Fairfield-Black Rock between 5:47 a.m. and 7:46 a.m.
Metro-North said frequent service will be available all day until about 2 a.m. to take people home after the parade and celebration.
An alcohol ban will be in effect on all trains and station platforms from 5 a.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday.
