Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Rochester man following a fatal stabbing inside a Henrietta hotel room Saturday afternoon.
Deputies responded at 2:50 p.m. Jan. 31, to the Extended Stay America on Commons Way for a report of a dispute inside a room. When they arrived, deputies found Richard T. Leo, 36, of Rochester inside the room with blood on him and detained him.
As deputies continued to clear the room, they located one person who had died from stab wounds.
Deputies confirmed the incident was isolated and that there was no threat to the public.
Leo was transported to the MCSO B-Zone Substation, where he was interviewed by investigators.
Following the interview, Leo was charged with second-degree murder, a felony. Deputies transported him to Monroe County CAP Court, where was arraigned. Leo is being held without bail in the Monroe County Jail, according to jail records, and is scheduled to return to court on Feb. 5.
The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
