A Republican race for county judge and Democratic contests for New York State comptroller and U.S. Congress are three of the top races on primary ballots in Allegany County on Tuesday, June 23.
Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on primary day.
Voters must be a registered Republican to vote in GOP primaries and a registered Democrat to vote in Democratic primary contests.
Allegany County has about 14,000 registered Republicans and approximately 5,000 registered Democrats, according to the New York State Board of Elections.
The following Democratic races will be on that party’s ballots on June 23:
Democratic Primary for New York State Comptroller (Countywide)
Incumbent Democratic Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli has served five terms as the state’s chief fiscal watchdog. He was originally appointed to the post in 2007 and subsequently returned to office by voters four times.
Drew Warshaw and Raj Goyle are challenging DiNapoli in the Democratic primary.
Every Registered Democrat in Allegany County is eligible to vote in this race.
Democratic Primary 23rd Congressional District (Countywide)
Aaron Gies and Kevin T. Stocker are running in the primary for the opportunity to face Republican Rep. Nick Langworthy, the incumbent, in the November General Election.
Every Registered Democrat in Allegany County is eligible to vote in this race.
Democratic Primary Cuba Town Board (Cuba only)
Jonathan Enzinna and Lance Tronetti are the Democratic Party candidates to fill a vacancy on the Cuba Town Council.
The following Republican races will be on that party’s ballots on June 23:
Republican Primary for Allegany County judge (Countywide)
Three Republicans are seeking the party’s nomination for Allegany County Court Judge.
The candidates are Allison Carrow, Gerald M. Driscoll and Dawn A. Wildrick-Cole.
The winner takes the Republican line for the November General Election.
Republican Primary for Allen Town justice (Allen only)
Dominic Barone and Bill Murphy are vying for the Republican Party nomination for Allen town justice.
Republican Primary for Friendship Town justice (Friendship only)
The GOP candidates running for the nomination are David M. Szucs and Edward Yagger.
Republican Primary for Hume Town justice (Hume only)
Richard Bentley and Karen Stroud are the Republican candidates for town justice in Hume.
Republican Primary for Rushford Town justice (Rushford only)
The GOP candidates for Rushford town justice are Dominic Barone and Cal Champlin.
Early voting locations for primary elections
Early voting for this month’s primaries runs from Saturday, June 13 through Sunday, June 21.
There are two locations in Allegany County to vote early.
