The New York Giants linked up with their cross-town rivals, the New York Jets, this week for joint practices ahead of the matchup between the two teams in Week 2 of the preseason.
While the Giants are missing a few key players on the offensive side of the ball, rookie Abdul Carter has continued to impress.
Carter has shown signs of dominance in practices all training camp long and had three pressures on three plays in the Giants’ preseason opener against the Buffalo Bills this past weekend.
Now, after just one day of joint practices between the two teams, one of the Jets players has noticed Carter’s potential on the field.
That anonymous Jets player wasn’t the only one to praise Carter and the Giants’ front. Quarterback Justin Fields did as well.
“They’re good,” Field told reporters. “They’re really good. They have speed on the outside with Brian (Burns) on the outside. And, of course, (Dexter Lawrence). He’s been a menace for some years now on the inside. I think they’re really good. Abdul — he’s good, too. He can move around a lot. . . They’re going to be really good up front.”
Jets coach Aaron Glenn also praised Carter after practice.
“He’s a grown man,” Glenn told reporters. “He didn’t shock anybody by some of the things that he can do. . . He’s a damn good player.”
Carter, of course, was selected by the third overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft to join a defensive line loaded with enough talent to be one of the best defensive lines in the NFL. He has lived up to the hype so far during training camp, and fans are excited to see what he can do when the regular season starts.
