Jets 2026 NFL free agency tracker: Offseason rumors, trades, signings

The 2026 free agency period in the NFL has arrived. All 32 teams, including the New York Jets, are getting to work.

The new 2026 league year in the league officially begins on Wednesday at 4 p.m. That’s the same time players that are pending free agents can officially sign contracts with new teams.

While that is the case, prior to that plenty of transactions are reported on or others such trades or contract restructures.

Defensive back adds more to defense

Nahshon Wright has joined the Jets. He heads to New York on a one-year deal.

Fullback back

Fullback Andrew Beck has re-signed in New York. The Jets have given him a one-year deal.

Geno is back

The Jets have traded for former QB and draft pick Geno Smith in a deal with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Another hole in O-line

Division rival, the New England Patriots, have inked former Jets offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker to a three-year deal. Now there are two holes at guard to fill after John Simpson signed elsewhere earlier in free agency as well.

Another add in the middle

David Onyemata, 33, leaves the AFC South and joins the Jets. The former Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints defensive tackle has signed in New York.

Kicker needed

One of the few bright spots from the 2025 Jets has left the team. The 41-year-old kicker Nick Folk has signed with the Atlanta Falcons.

Hole on offensive line

A staple on the offensive line in New York for the past two years, John Simpson has left the Jets. The Baltimore Ravens have given him a three-year deal.

Reunion

Linebacker Demario Davis is returning to New York. The 36-year-old signed a two-year deal with the Jets after spending the past eight years with the New Orleans Saints.

Edge addressed

Two players at that spot reportedly agreed to terms in New York, Joseph Ossai and Kingsley Enagbare.

All-Pro safety added

A seventh-round pick is all it took for the Jets to acquire safety Minkah Fitzpatrick via trade with the Miami Dolphins. The All-Pro safety is signing a three-year contract in New York as well.

Jets interested in two vet QBs

According to reports via SportsNet New York, the Jets have interest in two veteran free agent quarterbacks: Former Jets QB Geno Smith and Carson Wentz.

Metchie, Briggs retained

Wide receiver John Metchie and defensive tackle Jowon Briggs were acquired mid-season in 2025 by the Jets. Both were exclusive rights free agents and were retained by the team.

Trade signals change

The Jets moved on from pass rusher Jermaine Johnson, trading him to the Tennessee Titans. In doing so, New York landed defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat… and create a hole at edge defender that will need to be addressed moving forward this offseason.

Jets use franchise tag

The Jets’ free agency period unofficially began with Breece Hall. The team slapped the franchise tag on the running back.
