Jenni B's Henna Hut Refillery & Shop debuts in Corning. What it offers

A new Corning business, Jenni B’s Henna Hut Refillery & Shop, offers handcrafted botanical body care products, refillable household and personal care products, and sustainable alternatives designed to help reduce waste.

Jen Harris, Jenni B’s Henna Hut Refillery & Shop owner, said the shop features handmade lotion bars, soaps, beard balms, body care products, and a growing refillery where customers can refill everyday items instead of purchasing new containers.

“What began as making natural products for my own family has grown into a storefront focused on simple ingredients, sustainability, and supporting the local community,” Harris said. “Currently the store is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, but the goal ultimately is to open five to six days a week.”

Harris said she originally started crafting handcrafted botanical body care products in 2018.

“I started out creating balms for my daughters, who have very sensitive skin,” Harris said. “I was looking for ways to give them something that is a moisturizer, to protect their skin from breaking out, that is made with natural products instead of having alcohol and other chemicals.”

Harris said that’s when she started researching how to create these types of balms.

“I played around with the formulas and then our recipes and the textures, and I developed a couple that worked really well,” Harris said. “I had folks in the community who said I should make some for them and they will buy it, and that’s how this really got started.”

Harris said in 2019, her husband asked if he could use the balm for his beard, leading her to create a beard balm and lotion bars that ultimately led to the creation of Jenni B’s Henna Hut Refillery & Shop.

“I would set up as a vendor at events and sell, but nothing big enough to call it an official business,” Harris said. “Then the pandemic hit, the vendor events closed and I lost all my clientele.”

Harris said about six months ago she decided to do a brand lift and get back into Jenni B’s Henna Hut Refillery & Shop.

“I started making lotion bars, beard balms and adding more products,” Harris said. “I also decided to add refillable glass bottles because the community needs a place where we can keep plastic out of the landfill and still be able to get the body and the cleaning supplies that we need. “

Jenni B’s Henna Hut Refillery & Shop, located at 56 E. First. St. in Corning, is currently open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
