The Ithaca Farmers Market once again proved its worth in May, clinching the top spot in the 2025 Newsweek Readers’ Choice Awards for Best Farmer’s Market, a testament to the market’s charm and role in the Ithaca community.
Since its inception in 1973, the Ithaca Farmers Market has been a beacon for local agriculture, offering a diverse range of products all sourced within a 30-mile radius.
The market’s recent win in the Newsweek Readers’ Choice Awards underscores its appeal and strong support from locals and visitors alike.

What sets the Ithaca Farmers Market apart from the rest of the ranking is its mix of hot food vendors offering global cuisines and its curated selection of artisan foods and crafts.
“From April to December, take home the taste of orchards, distilleries, bakeries and coffee roasters produced within 30 miles of the city,” the Newsweek ranking states.
Many Ithaca locals, though, will likely tell you that it’s the chance to gather under the sun each weekend, or to roll root vegetables together each year.
The Ithaca Farmers Market hosts events including the annual International Rutabaga Curl, drawing thousands each winter to watch Ithaca natives and visitors young and old slide hearty roots as close to the target as they can.
The market operates from the lakeside Pavilion at Steamboat Landing, located at 545 3rd Street, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sundays.
Additionally, the Wednesday Market on Ithaca’s East Hill runs from 3 to 6 p.m. next to Walgreens at 330 Pine Tree Road.
