IKEA adding 2 new New York locations: See where they’re planned

Swedish furniture giant Ikea is expanding its U.S. footprint, with seven new stores planned through early 2027 — including two new locations in New York.

The retailer confirmed to USA TODAY that it plans to open six traditional large-format stores and one smaller-format location over the next two years. Ikea currently operates more than 500 stores worldwide, including more than 50 in the United States.

New York shoppers will see two new Ikea locations open over the next several months:

The 67,000-square-foot location in Buffalo will occupy part of a former Sears store and feature Ikea’s signature showroom, marketplace and Swedish Bistro. It will be the retailer’s second upstate New York store, following the opening of its Syracuse location in 2025, and is expected to attract shoppers from across western New York, Pennsylvania and southern Ontario.

The company has not announced specific opening dates for any of the locations.

Ikea continues U.S. expansion

The new stores are part of Ikea’s ongoing effort to expand its presence across the United States through a mix of traditional warehouse-style stores and smaller urban locations.
