New York State Police are investigating a house fire in Little Falls that left two people dead, according to a news release.
State Police responded to a call around 2:50 a.m. May 7 for a residential structure fire at 6213 State Route 5.
Police and fire first-responders found four people inside the home. Two occupants were pronounced dead at the scene. Two additional people were transported for medical treatment.
One person was transported to Wynn Hospital in Utica and later transferred to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse for treatment of facial burns and smoke inhalation. Another person remains at Wynn Hospital being treated for smoke inhalation.
The New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control responded to the scene and is assisting with the investigation. According to law enforcement, there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the fire.
Responding agencies on the scene included Little Falls Fire Department, Herkimer Fire Department, Middleville Fire Department, Saint Johnsville Fire Department, Ilion Fire Department, East Herkimer Fire Department, German Flatts Fire Department, and Salisbury Fire Department.
The investigation remains ongoing.
