The last three months of competition ― with all those accomplishments and the progress these teams have made ― was the build up to this. With the regular season now behind us, the attention immediately turns to the playoffs and the pursuit of a coveted gold ball.
Section 1 released on Tuesday its brackets and schedule for the five-classification girls basketball tournament. The proverbial ball gets rolling on Feb. 19 with outbracket games. The top-seeded teams are Albertus Magnus (Class AAA), Nyack (Class AA), Tappan Zee (Class A), Alexander Hamilton (Class B) and Tuckahoe (Class C).
Those are the favorites, but each class has a field of viable contenders who’ll be going all out in the coming weeks for a chance at triumph in the Westchester County Center and beyond.
