Help us pick the best ever HS athletes from the Lower Hudson Valley

Many high level athletes got their starts on high school sports fields and gyms in the Lower Hudson Valley.

Over the next several weeks, we are going to look for your input on who the best high school athletes ever in the Lower Hudson Valley in various high school sports are. But first we’re going to ask for your help.

Fill out the form on lohud.com/sports/high-schools/ and let us know who you think are the best of the best. It can be anyone from any era, but the criteria we’re looking for is that they were good specifically in high school. You may know some diamonds in the rough from many years back that our staff may not know.

As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, USA TODAY Sports will celebrate the 250 greatest American sports figures of all time. Alongside that national recognition, the USA TODAY Network will spotlight the roots of the country’s sports culture: the high school athletes and sports figures who shaped communities and defined their states.

The sports we’re going to be looking at are football, baseball, softball, boys basketball, girls basketball, boys soccer, girls soccer, boys lacrosse, girls lacrosse, wrestling and track and field.

You can leave a name and a way of contacting you if our staff has questions about any of the nominees. That will not be printed.

Thank you for your help as we look to find out who’s the best of the best.
