Stew Leonard Jr., whose whimsical grocery stores feature singing animatronic cows and other animals, vegetables and milk cartons, including at a Yonkers location, is slated to throw out the first pitch at the Yankees game Tuesday night, Aug. 12.
The Major League Baseball game, against the Minnesota Twins, starts at 7:05 p.m. at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

The stores’ Instagram account has posted videos of Leonard readying for the game, including a practice pitching session.
“Big league prep in the parking lot!” said one Instagram post. “Stew brought the team AND some hometown all-starts – from high school champs to #littleleague legends – to give him pitching tips before [Tuesday] night’s FIRST PITCH at Yankee Stadium!”
Another post, on Aug. 10, featured Leonard “warming up at our Yonkers store for his big league moment” and “customers are giving tips, cheers, and a little friendly coaching … think he’s ready for Yankee Stadium?”
To prepare to throw out the first pitch, Leonard got in some practice time at the Norwalk, Connecticut, store on Monday, where the past captain of that city’s high school baseball team and his team mates, several Little Leaguers, and Wow the Cow helped Leonard perfect his pitch.
Along with Yonkers, Stew Leonard’s stores are in Connecticut, on Long Island and in New Jersey.
