Generac portable generators recalled for fire risk

Gas generators sold at Costco, Home Depot, Lowe’s and other hardware stores in New York and nationwide have been recalled due to gas leaks, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s recall notice.

The portable generators are manufactured by Generac Power Systems and were sold between May 2025 and Feb. 2026. When first filling the generator with gasoline, fuel can leak out from the carburetor, which poses “a serious risk of injury or death from fire or burn hazard,” according to CPSC.
