From The Beatles to chamber music to jazz, Finger Lakes Community College will be getting into a musical groove in the beginning of May.
Here are the upcoming musical performances. All are free and open to the public.
FLCC Spring Arts Festival celebrates The Beatles
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and a tribute to The Beatles performance begins at 7 p.m. May 1 at the main campus auditorium, 3325 Marvin Sands Drive. The Student Honors Art Exhibition awards ceremony follows. Student artwork will be on display in the Williams-Insalaco Gallery 34, on the first floor, starting at 6 p.m.
The “The Beatles No.1s,” concert will highlight songs by the British rock band that include “Can’t Buy Me Love” (1964), “Help!” (1965), “Hey Jude” (1968), and “Let It Be” (1970).
Geoff Smith, professor of music, directs the band featuring Cory Patrick, Liam Lavelle, Nick Benson and James Derusha on guitar; Kyan Powers on trombone; Philip Love on trumpet; Elder Dimpfl and Erinn Frantz-Bush on piano/keyboards; Jamie Glozer on saxophone; Samuel Brache and Joseph Trovato on percussion; and Taylor Wilson on bass.

Finger Lakes Camerata performs twice in May
The Finger Lakes Camerata, a chamber choir based at Finger Lakes Community College, will give two free concerts the first weekend in May.
The first performance is at 3 p.m. May 2 at the United Church of Canandaigua, 11 Gibson St. The second is scheduled for 3 p.m. May 3 at First Congregational Church of East Bloomfield, 10 South Ave., Bloomfield.
“From Darkness into Light” includes composer Christopher Tin’s “Sogno di Volare.” The title means “The Dream of Flight” and references Leonardo da Vinci’s writings on flight and the Grammy-award winning theme to the Civilization VI video game. Another piece, “Dark Night of the Soul,” by Ola Gjeilo, is based on the English translation of a poem by San Juan de la Cruz, a 16th-century Spanish mystic.
The Finger Lakes Camerata consists of 26 members. The director is Anthony D’Agostino; accompanist is Sarah Reilly. To learn more about the Camerata, email dagostia497@gmail.com.
