An apartment unit in the Nodine Hill section of Yonkers was destroyed Tuesday afternoon, April 14 during a serious fire.
The Yonkers Fire Department said a fire was reported on the top floor of a three-story apartment building across the street from the city’s water tower at 1 Alder Ave. at around 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Fire damage was observed outside of a window on the third floor. According to the Yonkers Fire Department, no civilians were injured, but some firefighters did sustain minor injuries.
Elm, Cedar and Adler streets were closed to traffic as firefighters worked to contain the blaze until around 6 p.m.
The Yonkers Fire Department said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
