A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car on Route 104 in Webster Wednesday morning, according to police.
According to New York State Police, the 33-year-old pedestrian was struck by a westbound vehicle on the highway, near Five Mile Line Road, just before 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 7.
A stretch of the highway’s westbound lanes – between Hard and Five Mile Line roads – were closed for more than three hours Wednesday and impacted the morning commute.
Trooper Lynnea Crane said the involved driver was not injured in the crash and remained at the scene. The pedestrian – who was not identified by police – was pronounced dead at the scene and was taken to the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy, she said.
There was not a pedestrian crosswalk on the highway, according to State Police. Also, Crane said, “There were no indications of impairment.”
The crash remains under investigation.
