Who's Baseball Player of the Week, presented by White Plains Hospital?

Every week during the high school baseball season. we ask readers to select the lohud Baseball Player of the Week, presented by White Plains Hospital.

Last week, coaches nominated 10 athletes. The winner was Pearl River’s Drew Wooster. The pitcher/infielder had a complete-game shutout with 11 strikeouts and hit 400 with a double, triple five runs scored and two runs batted in over three games.

He joined previous winner JP Donahoe of Mamaroneck.

This week, coaches have nominated seven athletes for their April 13-19 play. The poll will close at 3 p.m. Wednesday with the winner announced on lohud sports social media.

Rocco Briante, Tuckahoe

Over a four-game span, the senior shortstop and third baseman hit .533, going 8-for-15, with five stolen bases and six RBI.

Connor Buckley, Pearl River

Over three games last week, the senior pitcher and infielder hit .615, going 8-for-12, with three doubles, three runs scored and three RBI. He also hurled eight innings, striking out 13. He recorded one save.

Andrew Ciszewski, Hastings

The senior, who pitches and plays third, led the Yellow Jackets to three wins last week. He started two of those games and got the win in both, going a combined 10 1/3 innings, issuing four walks, striking out 17 and allowing four earned runs. At the plate, he was 4-for-8 with two walks and two RBI.

Sean Concannon, Iona Prep

Over two wins over Monsignor Farrell and one over Moore Catholic, the senior centerfielder went 5-for-9 (.556 average) with three stolen bases, nine runs scored and eight RBI.

Anthony Duffy, Nanuet

The senior pitcher and outfielder played major roles in two Golden Knights wins last week. He was the winning pitcher against Clarkstown South, hurling six innings of two-hit ball. He walked three, struck out 10 and allowed only one earned run. And in a win over Clarkstown North, he was 1-for-3, but that one was a big one, as he clocked a two-run walk-off home run.

Lawrence Moccia, Yonkers Montessori

Over a three-game span, the senior first baseman went on an 8-for-11 tear (.727 batting average) with two doubles, a triple and eight RBI.

Andrew Sur, Croton

Over three games, the senior catcher hit .625, with two home runs, a double, a triple and seven RBI. One of the homers and the double and triple came against Putnam Valley while Sur accomplished the rare feat of hitting for the cycle.
