We’ve got another season completed for flag football in Section 1 and the Lower Hudson Valley.
There was growth in the game in terms of participation, as Section 1 grew to 36 flag football teams in 2026. Yorktown became the second Section 1 team to win a state championship, winning the Class B title, joining the 2025 Scarsdale team which won the Class A title.
These selections include players on teams in Westchester, Rockland and Putnam.
Selections are made based on performance during the high school season. Coaches are invited to nominate players and provide input before we pick the teams and assemble the list.

Year: Senior
Position: Quarterback/Linebacker
Highlights: The senior was 319 for 455 for 2,832 passing yards with 55 touchdown passes. She rushed for 1,125 yards and 16 touchdowns. She had 77 flag pulls, seven interceptions and an interception returned for a touchdown. As selected by Section 1 coaches, she was named Section 1 Class B Player of the Year. Girardi will attend Central Connecticut State to play women’s soccer in the fall.
