Chick-fil-A is coming to Broome County. See latest updates on 2 locations

Two Chick-fil-A restaurants could soon be making their way to the Binghamton area, with at least one anticipated to open in 2026.

In October, Spark JC, LLC partner Marc Newman confirmed demolition of the former KeyBank building in the Oakdale Commons would begin in November, making way for the popular fast food chain.

Previously, in June, Chick-fil-A Inc. confirmed the company was “actively pursuing a new location in Vestal,” as well. A site plan review for a Chick-fil-A location to open at the Town Square Mall was on the Town of Vestal Planning Board agenda for June 17.

At the time, Town of Vestal board member Glenn Miller also confirmed Chick-fil-A was “starting the process to open a store in Vestal.”

Here’s where those projects stand about six months later.

KeyBank demolished, paving way for Chick-fil-A in Johnson City

As of mid-December, KeyBank has been completely demolished, allowing for the Chick-fil-A project to move forward.

Newman said in October that, following the demolition, Spark JC will be performing site grading and preparation before turning over the property to Chick-fil-A, which he expects to happen in March 2026.

Once the property is turned over, Newman said the construction timeline for the restaurant will be up to Chick-fil-A, as Spark JC is not responsible for the company’s building permits or construction plans.

While Spark JC is not responsible for anything after turning over the building, Newman said he is hopeful that Chick-fil-A will open in 2026, as he expects the company to “move right along” in the construction process.

Site plan for Vestal Chick-fil-A approved

On Dec. 16, meanwhile, Miller confirmed that the Vestal Planning Board has “approved an amended site plan” for a Chick-fil-A restaurant.

In the board’s Oct. 14 meeting minutes, the site plan for 2505 Vestal Parkway E. includes a second turn lane, additional signage and for the pedestrian sidewalk and crosswalks to be updated. This amended site plan was approved on Oct. 14.

In a Dec. 17 statement, Chick-fil-A Inc. said that the company is “actively pursuing a new location” in Vestal.

“We look forward to working through the approval process with the community and are excited by the prospect of joining this neighborhood,” Chick-fil-A stated. “We hope to have the opportunity to serve new guests delicious food along with our signature hospitality.”

Chick-fil-A did not announce a timeline for the Vestal location.
