Ontario County’s prime swimming beach will not require visitors to pay an entry fee this summer, according to city officials.
In an attempt to curb illegal swimming elsewhere in Canandaigua Lake, City of Canandaigua officials opted to waive the previously required admission fee to enter Kershaw Park’s swimming beach for 2025, assistant city manager Shawna Bonshak. In years’ past – a seasonal swimming pass was nominal for city residents and cost between $2 and $5 per visit for non-residents.

The swimming beach is the focal point of Canandaigua’s Kershaw Park, a nine-acre park located at the north end of Canandaigua Lake in Ontario County. The popular lakeside beach opened for the season over Memorial Day weekend and will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Labor Day, weather pending.
In addition to the swimming beach, the park has a bathhouse, walking paths, a playground, a small craft launch area and public dock with a boat pump-out station.
