They raised money. They came to Canandaigua Lake. They saw the lake.
And on March 15 they plunged into the lake’s frigid waters at Kershaw Park as part of the Canandaigua Polar Plunge.
Plungers, as they’re known, either individually or as a team exceeded a goal of $25,000 and raised nearly $28,400 as of March 16 as part of the popular annual event that supports local Special Olympics New York athletes.
Plungers pledge to raise at least $100 in order to plunge into the lake. Many of the participants wear costumes.
And believe it or not, many of the participants don’t seem to mind the cold — too much.
