Deputies responded to a 911 call around 10:50 a.m. for a serious crash at the intersection of Cooley Road, Hickox Road, and State Route 5&20. When they arrived, they found the box truck driver — the sole occupant — trapped in the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The SUV involved in the crash had two occupants. The driver was uninjured, while a child passenger was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with shoulder pain.

The driver’s name has not yet been released.

According to investigators, the box truck was traveling west on Route 5&20 when it collided with the SUV, which was headed north on Hickox Road. The impact caused the box truck to hit and become entangled with a utility pole.

Sections of Route 5&20, Hickox Road, and Cooley Road remain closed as the investigation continues.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office at 1-800-394-4560.
