Parking will be free in downtown Binghamton every Saturday in July.
In a July 3 press release, City of Binghamton Mayor Jared Kraham announced on July 5, July 12, July 19 and July 26, parking will be free to encourage visitation and exploration of the downtown area.
Because of the fact that July has the “lowest-revenue month for parking” in the area, according to the release, Kraham has established the free parking initiative to “promote business during the summer months and increase foot traffic downtown.”
“Downtown Binghamton is the heart of the Southern Tier, and there’s no better time to visit than in the summer. This free parking initiative is aimed at supporting our small businesses and making it even easier for residents and visitors to enjoy all downtown has to offer,” Kraham said. “Come down and enjoy our shops and restaurants while taking advantage of free parking on weekends in July this summer.”
