Something is missing from the field at new Highmark Stadium.
A whole lot of paint.
The Buffalo Bills’ new home will host its first NFL game Saturday when the Carolina Panthers visit for the preseason opener.
But the field at new Highmark Stadium doesn’t quite look how it will for the regular season.
The BILLS lettering in the end zones and charging buffalo logo at midfield are outlined in white for the preseason opener, leaving the natural grass visible inside the designs.
The outlined logos are a temporary look. The Bills are building toward the finished field design for the regular season, team communications director Derek Boyko confirmed Saturday.
Earlier renderings from the Bills showed blue-painted end zones with BILLS spelled out in large white letters with red outlines. The charging buffalo at midfield was also shown in its familiar blue, red and white colors.
The Bills are only a week removed from holding their first team event at new Highmark Stadium with the Return of the Blue & Red practice.
The field will get another upgrade before the Bills begin playing games that count.
The Bills are simply saving some paint for the regular season.
