The Buffalo Bills are on the list of team that have expressed interest in adding former Pro Bowl and Super Bowl champion defender Vita Vea.
Vea is in the midst of a hold-in as he looks for a new contract from his current team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs beat the New York Jets in their preseason opener on Friday and Vea sat out because of that.s
If that does not happen for Vea, there is a belief he could be traded away from Tampa and reportedly the Bills have expressed interest.
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Buffalo general manager Brandon Beane has checked in on Vea’s availability:
Vea, an eight-year veteran, is set to make $18 million in 2026 on his current contract and he wants a pay raise from that. During that career, Vea has established himself as a top interior player on the defensive line.
On Friday, the NFL suspended Buffalo defensive tackle Phidarian Mathis for three games for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. Beane likely reached out about Vea prior to that, but he could have known the suspension was coming.
In 2025, Pro Football Focus graded Vea as the 20th best defensive tackle in the NFL. Over the course of 112 career games, Vea has recorded 35 sacks and 256 tackles, including 48 for loss.
