Westchester and Putnam softball had strong years in 2026.
This year’s all-stars feature girls from three Section 1 championship teams – Eastchester in Class AA, Dobbs Ferry in Class B and Tuckahoe in Class C
This year’s team is highlighted by 19 girls who had garnered All-State honors by NYSSCOGS, led by the Class AA player of the year, Ava Papaleo of Ursuline, who also the Gatorade Player of the Year in New York.
Ava Papaleo
Westchester/Putnam Softball Player of the Year

Year: Senior
Position: Center field
Highlights: The University of Virginia-bound senior had a strong final season for the Koalas. She finished the season with a .548 batting average, .685 on-base percentage, 1.177 slugging percentage and a 1.862 OPS. Papaleo had 34 hits, 13 doubles, a triple, eight home runs, 37 runs scored, 21 walks (13 of which were intentional), 19 stolen bases and 31 RBI. In 89 plate appearances, she struck out only three times and was hit by a pitch eight times.
This season, she garnered All-Section honors, All-League honors, and NYSSCOGS Class AA first team all-state honors. To cap off her stellar resume, Papaleo picked up League C Player of the Year honors, NYSSCOGS Class AA player of the year honors and was named New York State’s Gatorade Player of the Year.
Papaleo finished her high school career with a .554 batting average, 153 hits, 59 doubles, 10 triples, 256 home runs, 140 RBI and 80 stolen bases. She committed only three career errors.
