Aquinas linebacker Brody Lennox turned a potential McQuaid scoring drive into a 14-point lead for his team in one of Section V football’s rivalry games.
McQuaid was on the verge of beating the clock at the end of the first half, when the Knights drove to the Aquinas 11-yard line with 6.9 seconds remaining.
A 14-7 lead for Aquinas was under threat, until Lennox, a senior, returned an interception 95 yards for a touchdown.
Aquinas went on to win 21-14, after emergency tailback CJ Flaherty ran out the final 4:50 of the fourth quarter.
