Weekend snow led to crashes across Iowa. How many were there?

Snow blanketed Iowa again over the weekend, causing dangerous driving conditions for many drivers across the state.

The storm brought snowfall across Iowa starting Saturday, Dec. 6, with Ames and other parts of central and northwest Iowa receiving upwards of 8 inches of snow by Sunday morning when the flurries had subsided. Des Moines received nearly 2 inches of snow.

Troopers from the Iowa State Patrol were busy responding to crashes in the storm. While a few people were injured, no fatalities were reported, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

The Des Moines Police Department responded to 32 crashes from noon Saturday through noon Sunday. No critical injuries were reported, according to Des Moines Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Paul Parizek

The next chance of snow in Des Moines is Thursday, Dec. 11, with a 20% chance after midnight, according to the National Weather Service.

There is a 30% chance of snow on Thursday afternoon. The high will be 27 degrees, with the National Weather Service forecasting a low of 11 degrees.
