Vote for Ames Tribune mid-season Iowa high school baseball MVP

We’ve passed the midway point of the 2026 Iowa high school baseball season and several teams from the Ames area are having success.

Roland-Story has surged up to No. 2 in the IHSBCA Class 2A rankings. Ballard is ranked No. 9 in 3A.

Gilbert is having a winning season and the Tigers sit third in the Raccoon River Conference behind Ballard and Carlisle. Collins-Maxwell and Nevada also entered the week with a winning record.

Along with those standout teams, there have been several tremendous individual performers from the area.
