The Simpson College softball team lost in a May 31 semifinal at the NCAA Division III World Series in Salem, Va., ending the Storm’s season.
Redlands College defeated Simpson 6-3 to advance to the Division III championship series. Katie Shaner was 2-for-3 with a home run for Simpson. Marina Cronin pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed one run.
The Storm went 2-2 in Salem and finished the season with a 41-8 record. This was Simpson’s first trip to the World Series since winning the 1999 national title.
