New docuseries explores whether Iowa father was prolific serial killer

A documentary exploring whether an Iowa man was a prolific serial killer is now available on Paramount+.

“My Killer Father: The Green Hollow Murders” explores Lucy Studey McKiddy’s 2022 allegations that her father, Donald “Don” Dean Studey murdered more than 50 women while she was growing up in rural Iowa.

At the time, Studey McKiddy said she remembers helping her dad bury the bodies, some of which he tossed down into a well on their property near Thurman, Iowa.

McKiddy was estranged from her siblings, who insist their father wasn’t a serial killer. Some of her siblings appear in the new docuseries.

Following her allegations, local sheriff’s deputies, FBI agents and state criminal investigators conducted searches on a site McKiddy identified in December 2022.

“After exhaustive efforts, no evidence or other items of concern were recovered,” an Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation news release said at the time.

Where to watch ‘My Killer Father: The Green Hollow Murders’

“My Killer Father: The Green Hollow Murders” on Paramount+ will try to put the pieces together to determine whether or not Studey was truly a serial killer. A Newsweek article in 2022 said that if he were, Studey would rank as one of America’s most prolific serial killers.

The series “My Killer Father: The Green Hollow Murders” premiered Tuesday, April 28, exclusively on Paramount+.
