PANAMA CITY, Fla. — The Panama City Panthers bounced back in emphatic fashion Saturday, blanking the Alabama Bandits 36-0 to improve their record to 5-2. The Panthers are in playoff contention as they sit on top of the west standings in the APDFL.
The Panthers’ ground game proved lethal, with running back Jason Lewis scoring twice, Tyliek Mears adding one of his own and 59-year-old quarterback Eric Mitchell running one in.
Defensively, Panama City forced six turnovers. Safety O’Shea Williams led the way with three interceptions, while Darrell Truitt and Paul Hunter each added one. Defensive tackle Treysean Prentice returned a fumble for a touchdown, and defensive end Warren Newman recorded a strip sack.
The Panthers’ balanced attack and opportunistic defense left the Bandits scoreless, giving Panama City a decisive victory as they look to build momentum for the remainder of the season.
Panama City will be on the road this Saturday to face the Alabama Wardawgs in a rematch of the Commissioner’s Classic earlier this season, where the Panthers won 34-20.
