The Missouri Valley Conference announced on June 22 that the league’s women’s basketball tournament will move to St. Louis in 2027. The tournament was held in Coralville last season.
The conference also announced the installment of a new 10-team format for both men’s and women’s brackets.
Beginning in 2027, both men’s and women’s championships will be held in St. Louis during the same week, creating a unified tournament experience under the Arch Madness moniker.
“Drake fans have built a reputation as some of the most passionate and visible supporters in the Missouri Valley Conference,” Drake athletics director Brian Hardin said in a news release. “Bringing both championships together creates an incredible opportunity to celebrate everything that makes March special while setting the stage for unforgettable moments for our student-athletes and fans.”
St. Louis has been the home of the MVC men’s tournament since 1991.
In addition to relocating the women’s tournament, the conference approved a revised bracket format that will feature 10 teams competing over four days in both men’s and women’s basketball. Under the new structure, the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds will advance directly to the semifinals, providing meaningful reward for regular-season achievement.
