The accolades continue to pour in for Iowa State basketball senior forward Joshua Jefferson.
The Cyclones’ standout big man is a second-team Associated Press All-American. The teams were announced on March 17.
Jefferson previously earned first-team All-American honors by the Sporting News. He also earned first-team All-Big 12 recognition.
Jefferson enters the NCAA Tournament averaging 16.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.7 steals per game, while shooting 47.0% overall and 34.5% from long range. He has 10 double-doubles this season, including two triple-doubles. He became the only player in Cyclones history to log multiple triple-doubles, recording two of them 18 days apart in wins over West Virginia (Jan. 2) and UCF (Jan. 20).
It is the third straight year that an Iowa State player has earned AP All-American status under head coach T.J. Otzelberger. Last season, Curtis Jones was a second-team AP All-American, In the 2023-24 campaign, Tamin Lipsey was AP All-American honorable mention.
The 2-seed Cyclones will begin March Madness with a first-round matchup against 15-seed Tennessee State on Friday in St. Louis.
