IOWA CITY — After losing two games in a row, Iowa men’s basketball has dropped in multiple national polls.
The Hawkeyes fell out of the Associated Press Top 25. Iowa was previously ranked 19th, but now is just receiving votes.
Iowa checked in at 23rd in the most recent USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll. The Hawkeyes were previously 19th.
Iowa’s losses to Minnesota and Illinois followed a similar script. The Hawkeyes got off to sluggish starts and then made strong pushes in the second half, but were unable to make enough plays in crunch time to come away victorious. After falling to Illinois, Iowa is now 12-4 overall and 2-3 in Big Ten play.
The Hawkeyes face a challenging week ahead.
Iowa plays back-to-back road games in two of college basketball’s most electric environments. Iowa faces Purdue on Jan. 14, followed by Indiana on Jan. 17. Iowa will need to play better to avoid a four-game losing streak.
