Iowa football lands commitment from in-state 2027 linebacker

Iowa football grabbed a commitment from 2027 in-state linebacker Kyler Van Maanen on Tuesday.

Listed at 6-foot-3, 220 pounds, Van Maanen attends Pella High School in Iowa, where he is currently rated as a three-star prospect and as the No. 141 overall linebacker and the No. 16 player in the state, per Rivals’ 2027 industry rankings.

As a junior, Van Maanen racked up 92.5 tackles and 23.5 tackles for loss, both of which were team-highs for Pella. Van Maanen added a pair of sacks as well.

In addition to Iowa’s late-April offer, Van Maanen has also received scholarship offers from Northern Iowa, South Dakota, Lindenwood, and has drawn interest from Big Ten rival Wisconsin, per 247Sports.

Van Maanen is now the third linebacker to commit to the Hawkeyes in the 2027 high school class, joining Braylon Bingham and Gavin Stecker. The Pella High School product is the Hawkeyes’ 10th commit overall in the 2027 class.
