Iowa City Regina Catholic High School senior Howie O’Rourke is the Press-Citizen’s newest Student of the Week.

O’Rourke is a student leader who consistently demonstrates great effort in all of his courses, showing up on time, participating, and maintaining straight A’s.
“(O’Rourke) exemplifies the characteristics that we wish to see all of our students display in and outside of school. We are grateful to have (O’Rourke) with us at Regina,” said Regina assistant principal Caleb Lewis.
This week’s Student of the Week poll closed on Thursday, Sept. 25. A new poll will go live on Monday, Sept. 29.
Here are the nominees from this week:
Raphael Etuma, Iowa City High School
Raphael Etuma is a senior at Iowa City High and is an accomplished student completing multiple AP and honors-level courses. Etuma is also a multi-sport athlete, and so far in the fall, has been focused on football and playing in City High’s orchestra.
“(Etuma) is an incredible young man… He is a true leader in the building by the example he sets for others,” said City High principal John Bacon.
John Rasmussen, Solon High School
John Rasmussen is a sophomore at Solon High School who is unafraid to try new things. Rasmussen decided to try football for the first time this summer ahead of the 2025-26 school year. Since then, Rasmussen has been impressed with his ability to balance taking on new activities this fall. Additionally, Rasmussen has a leading role in the high school musical while maintaining a full course load of classes and being a top student in the building.
