The Iowa City Community Band’s 2026 season is off to a great start and there are just a few more opportunities to attend a performance this summer.
This year, the Iowa City Community Band (ICCB) celebrates our 43rd season and we are delighted to have Rob Medd, retired band director at Iowa City West High, serve as our director for the 19th year. We are honored again to provide the July 4 pre-fireworks concert as part of Coralville’s 4thFest on the Showcase Stage.Throughout the summer, we perform nine times. Concerts have been held at the Iowa Arts Festival, McPherson Park, and Fairmeadows Park.
Our remaining concerts are:
7 p.m., Sunday, June 21, at College Green Park
3:30 p.m., Sunday, June 28, at Willow Creek Park (see New Horizons Band at 2:30)
8:30 p.m., Saturday, July 4, at Coralville 4thFest pre-fireworks concert at S.T. Morrison Park (also see us in the parade at 10:00 a.m.)
7 p.m., Sunday, July 12, at North Market Square Park
7 p.m., Sunday, July 19, at Plum Grove Historic Site for Lucas Farms History Days
Each concert features a combination of traditional marches, contemporary pieces, and some familiar classics. To learn more about our band and for any schedule changes or cancellations due to inclement weather, visit our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/ICCBand).
ICCB rehearsals are held at 10 a.m. on Saturdays at West High School. New members — high school age and older —are welcome throughout the summer, with no audition required. Because new music is introduced each week, participation is flexible and ideal for those who may only be able to join for part of the season. If you are interested in participating or learning more, send an email to iccb.communityband@gmail.com.
ICCB operates solely on donations from individuals and local businesses to provide free concerts to the public. If you would like to contribute, send your donation to:
